We really appreciate that some customers can feel a little nervous as they embark upon their search to find their dream dress. Here are the answers to some of the most common questions we have been asked.

When should I start looking for my dress?

Twelve months before your wedding is usually a good time to start looking for your dress. We recommend that orders should be placed at least 9 months before the wedding to allow time for your gown to be made, delivered and then altered. Some designers can accommodate shorter time-scales, but there is usually an additional charge for this service. Alternatively, we have a range of gowns available ‘off the peg’ in our Last Chance To Love Me collection.

How long will my appointment last and who should I bring with me?

Your first appointment with us will last approximately two hours. In this time you will receive one-to-one advice from one of our expert consultants. Any subsequent appointments are scheduled according to your requirements. Our boutique has private changing rooms with sofas for relatives and friends, but we do advise that numbers are limited to the few key people whose feedback and advice you value and trust – your experience will be a lot more enjoyable if you have the right people supporting you, but do remember, the opinion that matters the most is YOURS !

What do I need to bring with me?

If you own a strapless bra, it is a good idea to wear this to your appointment. Nude or white underwear, whilst not essential, will work best under our wedding gowns. We have a selection of shoes for you to try on with our gowns, so it is not essential that you bring your own. Hair clips and bands are also useful, especially if you are considering wearing your hair up on your Wedding Day.

I really haven’t got an idea of what I want

Some customers come to us with a clear idea of what they want for their Big Day – whilst others are not so sure. Here at The Crystal Fairy Company we respect that everyone is different and we do our best to ensure that your appointment is tailored to your individual needs.

What sizes are your samples?

We have a range of sample gowns in sizes 10 – 24 and all of our gowns can be ordered from a size 2 up to a size 30. If there is a specific dress you want to try on and want to check what size our sample is, then feel free to contact us and we will do our best to help you.

What is the price range of your collections?

Our dresses range from £650 to £2000. Our Last Chance To Love Me Gowns are available from £350.

How do I place my order?

Congratulations – you’ve found The One !! To place your order, we require a non-refundable 50% deposit. If you don’t immediately have the 50% we will be happy to work out a payment plan for you, allowing you to pay the deposit over an agreed period of time as. The remaining balance is then due when your dress arrives but before any alterations take place. If your chosen gown is from our Last Chance To Love Me range, payment will need to be made in full.

How does the fitting process work?

At The Crystal Fairy Company we take great pride in making sure that each client leaves us with a perfectly fitting gown. All fittings take place at our shop in Birchington, and alterations are carried out by our experienced team of expert seamstresses. In most cases two fitting appointments are needed, but some alterations may require more fittings. This will be discussed with each client at the time. Whilst we endeavour to keep the cost of gown alteration to an absolute minimum, it is very difficult to provide our clients with an exact cost of altering a gown as this does vary from dress to dress and from person to person. We do have a scale of charges which assist our brides to budget for these additional costs.

Unfortunately, due to demand, we are only able to carry out alterations on gowns purchased from The Crystal Fairy Company.
